Here is a thought from Brian Reed

“Everything is designed. Few things are designed well.”

Brian Reed

This is relevant for so many things in life and for once I am not speaking about software solutions and their use. Instead, I am thinking about the able community understanding wants instead of needs for the disabled community and the impact this brings. Friday the 3rd of December 2021 is the UN International Day for Persons with Disability.

There is a theme for this year’s day – “Leadership and participation of persons with disabilities toward an inclusive, accessible and sustainable post-COVID-19 world.”

Gary Kearney is the founder of the Purple Lights Campaign and is the very embodiment of this year’s theme.  His campaign seeks to shine a bright purple light on needs v wants on this day. The UN day and Gary’s ongoing campaign will always receive attention and praise but is still somehow little known. Let’s change that!

Join TEKenable in being warriors who will fight and celebrate the resilience of the disabled community by going purple on the 3rd of December and sharing on social media! Use the #PurpleLights21 hashtag on your posts in your preferred social media channel. The astute among you will notice that our website has gone purple for the week and we are replacing our corporate Teams backgrounds with the Purple Lights backgrounds for internal and external calls on this day.

Join us in spreading the word and show some love for #PurpleLights21.
